Committees:

Board of Directors: President, Al Oertwig. 4th Tuesday of month. The 20 member resident elected Board provides leadership and oversight to the Council.

CPED: Chair, David Syers. Community Planning and Economic Development Committee
This committee is responsible for 1) notifying the community about upcoming land use and licensing issues, 2) hosting a monthly meeting to review and learn about these land use and licensing issues, 3) inviting the public and relevant officials/government staff/others to the monthly meeting, and 4) making recommendations to the Board of Directors on specific matters. This group typically deals with land owners who are requesting support for zoning matters, business owners who are seeking support for licenses or license changes, residents who are concerned about a particular issue in the neighborhood such as the environment or traffic, and housing and economic development issues in general. The committee meets at

NAC: Co-Chairs, Kerry Stone and Sheldon Schwartz. The Neighborhood Action Committee, NAC, is responsible for addressing quality of life and community issues. This Committee’s current focus is on crime prevention, and addressing critical vacant housing and problem property issues. The committee discusses and responds to needs and issues residents and block clubs bring forward, and works to facilitate solutions. Furthermore, the committee helps neighbors become more acquainted with and connected to the “system” of resources and information that allows citizens to solve problems at the block, neighborhood, district and public policy level. NAC encourages neighbors to work together across racial, economic, lines to organize a more unified neighborhood. To this end, NAC coordinates voluntary community projects and programs including Community Gardens, Neighborhood Clean Ups, Neighborhood Issue and Policy Dialogues, Neighborhood Honor Roll, Facing Race Dialogue, NAC is the hub of Payne Phalen Neighborhood Leadership Network for more info., email nac@paynephalen.org
