Neighborhood Honor Roll

Nominations must be received by November 25th, 2007.

Each year, you can nominate a neighbor who helps make Payne Phalen a better place to live, work and play!  The Neighborhood Honor Roll is a citywide award to honor people who improve the quality of life in Saint Paul.  Each year, the District 5 Council Board annually selects three awardees to be recognized at a citywide event.  These awards typically go to members of our community who have made a sustained and lasting impact on our neighborhood and City.

Please send your nominee for the 2007 award to
d5-director@visi.com  and tell us why this person deserves to be recognized and outline their accomplishments. The Board will select the award winners for 2007 at their November 27, 2007 meeting (Arlington Hills Public Library, 1105 Greenbrier).

January 11th, 2008 is the next Citywide Awards Night – and November 25th,  2007 is the deadline to receive nominations for 2007 at the District Five office – 1014 Payne Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55130.

2006  NEIGHBORHOOD HONOR ROLL AWARDEES -  District 5

Cheryl K. Peterson
Payne Phalen became Cheryl’s neighborhood of choice when she decided to rehab and restore a stately East Side home. She’s a tireless advocate for preserving Payne Phalen’s unique neighborhood history and character. Elected two terms on the Payne Phalen District Five Board of Directors, she has shaped local development and land use with the Community Planning and Economic Development (CPED) Committee.  Her pragmatic actions support the Burr Case “Garbage-brigade”, adults and children who regularly gather to pick up litter to beautify the area.

Ted Hecht
Ted has a lifelong commitment to Payne Phalen neighborhoods.  He was a graduate of the original Johnson High School. His civic leadership spans many arenas with breadth and depth. He provides current Board leadership with East Side Neighborhood Development Company (ESNDC) and the Payne Phalen District Five Planning Council. Active in PABA business association, Ted’s interest in marketing Payne Phalen neighborhoods is evidenced in the Annual Harvest Festival. For five years, he has expertly coordinated and supported the popular Harvest Festival Parade.
